ChangeActShare, Camden Council’s jewellery sector development project, runs a manufacturers’ network for the highly-skilled craftspeople of Hatton Garden. The network attracts over 40 businesses at each event, where participants have reported immediate benefits sourcing new suppliers and creating new collaborations.

Theo Ioannou is an enthusiastic supporter of the network and proprietor of CAD-MAN.co.uk, a Hatton Garden firm supplying technology-based services to the jewellery trade. He has worked in Hatton Garden for over 30 years and is known for work of the highest quality.

Theo began his career with E.V.Balmforth, where he developed his skills as a diamond mounter until he started his own business at the age of 21, going on to establish a workshop employing five craftspeople. Then came the recession of the late ‘80s when, according to Theo, business dried up overnight and with regret it meant that employing a workforce was no longer an option.

For Theo it meant some years away from the industry, focusing his attention on a course in Sculpture at Central Saint Martins.  But Theo soon returned to the business he loved having learned new skills in the form of design and also the hard lessons in how to become recession-proof.
